GEODYNAMIC INSTITUTE OF THE NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENS
A polygonal building with a total area of 2,615 sq.m. has just been completed to accommodate the Geodynamic Institute in Penteli. The construction, finalized by the GDM Assets team, is located within the National Observatory of Athens complex on Koufos Hill in Penteli.

The power of geometry: A polygonal building with sharp angles
Playing heavily with geometry and shapes, focusing on sharp angles and dynamic lines, this polygonal building features four stories and a panoramic view of the entire Attica region from above. Its creation marks the beginning of a new era for seismological monitoring and scientific research in the country.

"Among the premises of the National Observatory of Athens, the Geodynamic Institute building stands out for its unique design. Its polygonal layout and the prismatic volume resulting from the facade's deviation from the vertical plane give it a strong geometric identity, emphasizing its modern character."

The greatest challenge of the project was the extremely high wind pressure due to the project's location (at the peak of Mount Penteli), which was a strict requirement for the external joinery and was fully met by the systems installed.
